Usually doctors go by the TSH. At least, this is my experience. They get an initial TSH, which if over 5.5 (or your lab's limit) then they give you Synthroid. A low end of normal TSH is good--that is what is normal in healthy people. Maybe someone could help you more if you posted your results with the lab ranges.
