mononucleosis support

Posted by becksA on August 16, 2005, at 11:15:45

here's my mono story in a nutshell....i thought i had strep (because I've probably had that 50 times in my life already), so i was taking amoxycillin from my dentist/uncle rather than go through the doc again. didn't do anything, so I went and saw the doc, got blood tested and tested positive for mono. that was roughly SIX MONTHS ago, and I still have a low grade fever pretty much 24/7, and off and on very swollen glands in my throat. Is it normal that this can last this long?
I read up to two years? Would it be worth going back to the doc, is there anything she would prescribe to at least help ease the pain/fevers. I can't keep taking nonstop OTC painkillers.

Thanks
