Well, after my blood sugar got down to 57 and I blacked out, my dh took me into the ER.
I found out a few things; first the ER could only do a few test for my thyroid ( I think he said 2 of 6 tests). One came back abnormal which he said indicated I likely have hyperthyroid (DUH!).
They also did an EKG that came back abnormal so they now have me wearing this 24 hour heart monitor. My kids' are loving this thing. My 5 year old thinks I am "buzz lightyear." LOL
He said my regular doctor should do some type of ultrasound on this "lump" but he didn't seem to have the time to do much else.
So here I am. No REAL answers/solutions just yet but I guess some of the tests are at least out of the way!
He told my the feeling like I can't breathe/swallowing thing is likely related to the hyperthyroid. And of course I got the whole, " try not to focus on your breathing and swallowing" speech- which is kind of hard not to do when you feel like you CAN'T. LOL
Anyway, he seemed bothered that my doctor immediately has me on all these psych drugs before ruling out all these physical problems. He said, " Why did he even go down that road first?"
To which I replied, " I think because of my family history."
Regardless, until I know what is going on for certain, I don't think stoping all these meds will be wise either; Lamictal, Klonopin, Restoril, etc..
Even if it is my thyroid and blood sugar, it still sends my anxiety through the roof and makes it unmanageable.
Just thought I'd update you all. And a big thanks to Larry, who suggested I go to the ER asap! You were right Lar!
