hi all,
hope you all had a nice weekend! I wanted to share & get support from members.I just discovered that my skin appears to be somewhat allergic to the plant called Fairy Duster (Callandria Californica.) My new puppy loves to chew bushes in the yard, and of course I pull him out. The branches graze my hands & arms when I do this; they don't create scratches, BUT hive-ish welts & bumps appear about 15 min. later.
I had my hubby do an experiment to check if it was the Fairy Duster: He took some leaves from the bush and rubbed them on a 'clear' patch of skin on my arm. A few minutes later I got the tell-tale bumps.
It's odd! This is supposed to be a low-pollen, low-allergen plant. And as far as I know, I have not been allergic to this. It's been in our yard for years b/c hummingbirds love it and I love hummingbirds.
I do take Lexapro. Does anyone know if skin becomes more sensitive when taking Lex or other SSRI's? I guess I'll see a dermatologist and maybe do some skin tests, b/c I've had hayfever & other allergies for years. This is new, though.
Hope you're all well.
