That was a good explanation, thanks! But you don't actually have to go to the new board to get the URL of the redirected post. After you submit and confirm it, the message you get says:
Your message has been added (and that's a link to it).
And "Your message" is, well, a link to the redirected message. So you can just click on it to open it.
Or you might even be able to right-click the link to "copy link location" and not even have to open it. :-)
