> hi Lou,
> I know i'm a little ignorant--but I am not sure as to why Jewish People celebrate Hanukkah. As a child I never heard much of Hanukkah as I lived in the bible belt. could you tell me what it is meant to celebrate--I know it has something to do with a little oil lasting several days. I would welcome your words to explain to people about it's significance. Thanks Lou --and happy Hanukkah.Bobby,
You asked about Hanukkah and that you are not sure about why it is celebrated by the Jews.
There may be many people that are not knowlegable of the celebration that the Jews have for 8 days. One aspect of the celebration is one of the showing of the restoration of religious freedom and the preservation and survival of Judaism.
However, I am sorry that I can not post here all of the significance of the celebration, for the rules here could have the potential IMO to limit what I could write because there are commandments that Jews have to them that I am unsure of as to if the rules prohibit me from posting about them in relation to the Hanukkah celebration here. The celebration has symbolism and ritual that may be unbeknownst to many people and involve the commandments that the Jews include in their service and worship of God.
