Let me say that I am all about being from the south. I love it. I wouldn't live anywhere else. As a result, I see the confederate flag flying nearly every single day in one form or the other. Do I fly that flag over my house?
Absolutely NOT.
I know that to a whole lot of people that flag represents slavery, oppression and war. Therefore, being sensitive to those people, I support all efforts to ban that flag from public display, even though I may see it as a symbol of southern pride and nothing else. I don't care if they are right or wrong, those people offended by this flag have a right to have their feelings respected, despite how I may feel about the south and my pride in it.I feel the same way about whether or not the jews killed christ. It shouldn't matter. To me, something, even if it just a statement, that has been exploited and used to justify anti-semitism is dangerous and disrespectful.
I think we are all entitled to our beliefs, but we are NOT entitled to use those beliefs to denigrate others.Just my opinion.
