I think Dr. Bob has quite a challenge encouraging the discussion of faith on a board with people of many faiths, including atheism, and many cultures.
In some ways I think the board is an exercise in futility.
But I can certainly see *why* he would discourage people from saying their way was the only right way, since that's implying everyone else on the board is on the wrong path. And I can see why he would discourage people from saying that their way was the only way to heaven, since that's implying that all the posters not on that path were going to somewhere less pleasant.
I think it's *possible* to have truly ecumenical faith discussions, or theology discussions of a scholarly sort. But I think it's a real challenge, and I think many people get discouraged at the difficulty of it. Which doesn't mean it's not a worthy goal, and I thank Dr. Bob for that.
