RJL,
I knkow how difficult addictions can be to break, and I know that I couldn't have done so without the help of my higher power, and I will pray for you.
Something to know though, is this: My addiction wasn't merely lifted from me. I needed to admit that I was powerless over that substance, and that didn't happen for me until it nearly took my life. I hope that you don't wait until your lungs are so damaged that they are beyond repair before you take action to stop.
Even still, my addiction calls to me. Everytime I see one of my roommates bottles I still want to drink. I need to take action daily. I need to replace the drinking with something more healthy for me, and usually, for me, that's in the form of meetings or spiritual exercise.
There are Nicotine Anonymous groups around if you are willig to try that. There is also the patch, or gum. Usually though, the gum or patch work better along with other help, such as groups or some type of therapy or group work.
Nicotine Anonymous has meetings everywhere, and also holds at least three online meetings every day. You can reach the world service web site here: http://www.nicotine-anonymous.org/I'll pray for you, but I hope too, that you take action for yourself.
