MaTurtle Your post is thought provoking, but I think it "IS" important to understand spirit. I'll share my views, if you care to read them. Answers can be found in the Bible.

We can all say as Christ did, "I am spirit. My spirit hath not flesh and bone as ye see me have". That is not a contradictory thought. We each have a spirit and a body, and not until the resurrection will they be inseparably connected. When we die our spirit will go home to god to await the resurrection.

God communes to us, and we commune to him in prayer, spirit to spirit. When our spirit gets closer to God we feel his presence. This "feeling" is not an emotion, rather a presence that feels like a feeling because we feel it in our soul, on the inside of us.

If we do not know our spirit, it is hard to know what a spiritual experience is. A spiritual experience is an increased awareness of one's own spirit as it comes to know God.

My opinion is that there are three spirits that guide us, not just two. God's holy spirit, Satan's evil spirit, and our own. Some do not realize the power of their own spirit to guide them, but if we would acknowledge it we would discover a happy, joyful, dancy, bouncy trouncy part of ourselves that we didn't know existed.

We all may know of someone who at some time was possessed of an evil spirit. So, isn't it possible to also become one with God's holy spirit, and full of light? Light and darkenss are real and are reflected in a person's countenance. Spirit tames body, body grows discipline and keeps law, light grows brighter. Or it goes the other way. Same principle applies.

Our spirit has divine origin, without beginning or end. Spirit cannot be destroyed or created, but organized when it is time to create something. God created Adam's physical body from the elements of the earth, and then he placed Adam's spirit into it, which was already a spirit dwelling in an organized heaven. The bible does not say God created Adam's spirit from the elements of the earth. http://scriptures.lds.org/query?words=%22man+of+the+dust%22&search.x=23&search.y=

This doctrine is understood by the spirit, and can only be taught by God. It is perfectly logical. God doesn't work by incomprehensible magic, but by natural law, because God cannot lie, nor can he break any natural law. God is natural law, perfectly comprehendable.

Spirit, feelings, emotions, all are important to know. Don't ever think otherwise. They are you, and to get to know yourself, means getting into these things. Perhaps the reason a lot of people struggle with getting to know who they really are is that they simply don't understand the truth about their own spirit?

After all, we are our perception of things and the world around us so wouldn't it make sense to educate ourselves in all things, including spirit? God wants you to succeed and be able to discern good from evil, and not fall into the trap of thinking good is evil and evil is good. Look to Christ and follow the light. You won't go wrong.

I wrote and lost this, and I'm afraid this, my second attempt is lacking, but here it is. I re-wrote it for you because I think it is important to pay attention to our feelings, emotions, and spirit.
