First of all, amen, Dinah! Once again, you've spoken eloquent words of truth.
What a dismal song. And how sad to choose to live in such hopelessness when joy is available.
God isn't to be blamed for the evil in this world. If we chose to live by His operating instructions: to love God with all our hearts, soul, strength & mind, & to love our neighbors as ourselves, then this world would be a far better place. If we each live according to this principle, we can each have the hope, joy & peace we so desperately crave.
I, for one, am so glad that God promised never again to wipe out the evil in this world with a flood.
I wish peace & hope both to the writer of that song, & to the one who identified with it.
