sta,
This is what I have experienced too, and I have been evaluating it for quite some time. I have concluded that in my case, when I get on a particular swing I can go really far with it. The spiritual swing is just one of them. I believe spiritual guidance is very real and can be recognized. But, like the other moods/modes/swings, or whatever they are to you, it can go too far or too high.It is wrong? Is it weird? Others may judge, but to you and to me it is real. Don't doubt. When you make decisions, think them through rationally first. If you depend upon a spirit to guide you, you may err, as there are many spirits from dark to light that can guide.
There is an easy way to discern the spirits. A good spirit will lead you to do good. A false spirit will never lead you to do good. A false spirit will have you wrapped up in yourself. A good spirit produces good fruit, "by their fruit ye shall know them" Check your accomplishments, even the tiny ones and make your own assessment.
Job believed in God and never lost faith. Study him carefully. He had depression, but clung to his faith.
Faith, and belief in God provides a solid anchor in a depression. Faith is active, belief is passive. The seeds of faith can lay dormant in your soul for years, but when properly nurtured you cannot stop them from growing. A seed of faith has been compared to a grain of mustard seed. When it is properly nourished there is nothing you can do to stop its growth and progression.
The best nourishment for faith is prayer, scriptures, and service. And don't forget to eat food, drink water, and get plenty of rest, and take the common SENSS approach to life, Sleep, Exercise, Nutrition, Social Support.
Can you tell I'm on a spiritual kick tonight? Does it feel right or wrong?
Is this your first bout with a depression?
raywwI am new to this phycho stuff. Been on Lexapro for 4 weeks now for depression. I have been reading past messages for three days now and a have learned alot about my situation. I plan to take time and read the book of Job.
> I am looking for more guidance on what exactly everyone does to help themself feel better besides just taking the meds?
> My second question is that before my Meds I had periods of time that I almost felt like I could hear Gods voice. Was that just my head playing games with me?
