I accept your apology, Dena. But as I said before, I don't think this is the proper place to discuss church history and its implications on theology.
I admire your decision to do study. I was speaking to a woman at my church who was well known for having done many bible and church doctrine studies. I wouldn't ordinarily have asked the question I did, but due to her reputation I thought she would have been aware of the background. She told me "I'm glad I haven't studied religion too much. It might have shaken my faith." And I was rather taken aback. The study of religion might have made me cling less to doctrine, but it in no way lessened my faith in God. Quite the contrary.
But I must tell you that Dr. Bob requires tolerance for different viewpoints on this board and has previously ruled that it was unacceptable to say that there was only one right way to God. You might wish to check the archives here and on the administration board, and read the link to the examples of acceptable and unacceptable statements under board guidelines that is provided at the top of the page. Just a friendly heads up, since you're new here.
Best wishes,
Dinah
