This reminded me for some reason of what must have been my first (up close and personal) interfaith encounter ( I mean aside from seeing Christmas decorations and deparment store Santa Clauses, and Christmas/Easter tv shows, etc).
I was just a small child, maybe 5 or 6 at the most, and over at the next door neighbor's house, with my friend, who was a couple of years older. They were Catholic. She showed me a "picture of God". It was an image of a large eagle, wings spread. Well, this was a shocker to me, because I was taught to believe that God could not be seen--had no physical manifestation. I don't know if I said something to her or not, but I remember being rather flabbergasted by the idea.
Anyway, the shock probably didn't last long--we probably went on playing.
As it happens, her grandmother, who lived with them, had a shrine in the back yard. It was an enclosed wooden shelter, with doors that opened and closed, containing what I think must have been a stature of the Virgin Mary. We used to play in and around the shrine, although I am quite sure we weren't supposed to!
