Religion is supposed to elevate not to oppress, illuminate not smother, enlighten not stifle, and in so doing, open the conduit back to the presence of God.oracle, you take offense to my suggestion that there is a right and wrong way to worship in every religion. Are you saying it is all right to pray to Budah while you stab your brother in the back? Or that it is all right to bow with your mind full of thoughts of abuse?
Do your religious rituals and ordinances mean something or nothing to you? If they mean nothing, you are a counterfeit Budhist. If they mean something you are a true Budhist or Catholic, or Protestant, or whatever.
We don't have to be living exactly as the religion teaches in order to be a true member. In my opinion, we just need to be trying to do our best, and moving in the right direction. After all, religion is there for a guide and a light. Take care
