That is, what have you done lately that has brought you satisfaction? That sense of wellbeing that comes with reasonable self esteem?
I've done three things in the past few days that have brought me that feeling:
1. I've been playing with my new toy -- WHOOPS! I mean, I've been working with my new tool, and I get a very good, calm (yeah, me, calm!), proud feeling when I sew something well. And mostly, I do sew Well Enough. And it just feels so good to see those seams come together.
2. I made crab cakes for dinner tonight, and they were wonderful. Just great. And now I will have to go get more crab, so that I can make them again very soon, because they were THAT GOOD. They were, in fact, MBP.
3. I FINALLY started reading a book I've been meaning to get to for ages: "The Mistress of Udolpho," which is a biography of Ann Ward Radcliffe, author of "The Mysteries of Udolpho," one of the most popular books of its time. It's not going to be easy -- not enough source material, so how could this guy stretch it into such a thick book? But, I'm curious, and so I'll try to overlook the writer's archnesses and just enjoy... Whatever it is, just finishing the first chapter was enough to make me feel really good.
