I could be wrong, if the regulations have changed, but as of four or five years ago, it was legal to have a physician write a prescription for medications not permitted in the US, to be filled by a pharmcy in another country.
The limitation is that you can import medications that are not approved for the US, if you're doing so in small amounts for personal use.
I know there are some changes because of people getting drugs from Canada, but those were drugs also currently available in the US.
If your Pdoc thinks Edronax would be good for you, s/he might be willing and able to write a prescription you could fill in Britain or Europe, for example. Also, Cymbalta is another SNRI, which is available in the US, which some people have found useful.
