> Today I went to the library book sale. $4 per grocery bag full of books. I had so much fun. I bought some old text books - I love looking through what we used to teach people. And I found a copy of one of my all time favorite fiction books, "The Last Convertible" -- made me smile. I also picked up two of the four volumes of "The Diary of Anais Nin" -- which is a fascinating piece of work. So tonight I'm immersed in all these things and wishing I had the capacity to write something significant and lasting. But still - for $8, I'm in book heaven. :)
I have an entire bookcase full of books that I'm ready to pass on to the next good home. Some of these I send up to my mum, but it's a pain in the *ss for her to get the package from the post office (if it doesn't fit into an envelope she has to take a bus to retrieve her mail!), or there's a local women's shelter I'll take them to.
Or, there's BookIns. It's an online book trading site that allows members to send books to each other. Postage is paid, media mail, and it's anonymous. Every time you send a book out, you get credits. You can use credits towards getting books from other members, for for a flat fee of $3.99 a book. I'm very happy using it, though the pile of books has only gone down slightly, as I greedily search for books to add to my own collection.
Sigh. I just *love* books. And I'm ever so happy when they find happy homes to be enjoyed again.
