Books about characters from other books?

Posted by Racer on August 25, 2006, at 13:21:23

My husband asked me about this recently, when I started reading "March," by G. Brooks. He said something like, "It seems as though there are more books these days written about characters from other books..." I'm not so sure about that, but figured you all could help me make a list, both of the recent books, and the older books?

The first I can think of is "Joseph Andrews," about "Pamela" characters. (And, of course, "Shamela," but that's a little different...)

Then there's "The Wide Sargasso Sea," about Bertha Rochester's early life.

Jasper Fforde doesn't count here, really, I don't think, with the characters from Thursday Next's series...

Does "A Thousand Acres" count? I don't know.

So what can the rest of you think of? Any others?

Thanks!
