Hmm. Both. I usually borrow first and then if it is something I think I would like to read again and again or something that I would like to refer back to then I will buy it.

I did a cull on my books last year :-(

It was a very sad time for me.
But I was thinking that I hope to be moving overseas in the near future and didn't want them to rot in storage and so better to give them to a good home.

Most of them were books I got when I studied English Lit. Or novels.

Most of the books I have now are reference books...
Specialist Dictionaries (though ya don't really need those anymore with internet access)
DSM
Textbooks
Stuff like that...
I won't buy novels anymore unless I really really like it.
I have a few pop science books that I could probably have done without.
Just trying not to accumulate too much stuff...
