> My husband was prescribed a bad combo, lithium and zoloft. Now he is dealing with worse depression and suicidal thoughts. Dr. isn't being of any real help. What natural things help with this? Same-e or ?

> Thank you.Sometimes, an antidepressant can cause suicidality as a biological reaction. If the suicidality emerged only after beginning Zoloft, I would look to Zolft as being the culprit. Lithium usually doesn't do this. In fact, lithium is often touted as being able to prevent suicidality. Of course, there could be a persistent psychological contribution to your husband's suicidal feelings.
I would confer with your doctor about discontinuing the Zoloft and trying something else. Adding an "alternative" substance at this time may not make sense. Focus on dissipating the suicidal feelings first by identifying and discontinuing the offending medication. You can then plan your next treatment strategy.
What other drugs have been tried? What is the diagnosis and most prominent symptoms?
