Researchers Rhonda Patrick, Ph.D., and Bruce Ames, Ph.D., of the Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute have published a second paper examining the effects that vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids may have on serotonin synthesis. The first paper, which I mentioned in a thread that I started in January (http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/alter/20140619/msgs/1075281.html), discussed the relevance of the relationship between vitamin D and serotonin synthesis as it pertains to autism spectrum disorders. This newest paper discusses the relevance of the relationship that both vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids have to serotonin synthesis as it pertains to attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and impulsive behavior.
