Lamdage22,
As far as I can remember, I've taken pregnenolone on two separate occasions: first, prior to my psychosis when I was contending with chronic fatigue, and second, several months following the onset of my psychosis. The first time I took it, I found it to be highly beneficial as a treatment for my fatigue, but the benefits only lasted for about three days. The second time I took pregnenolone, I noticed what may have been an improvement in my fatigue, but I also felt much more aggressive than usual (and not in a good way) and also somewhat more psychotic. I think I've read about pregnenolone being used as a treatment for schizophrenia in some studies, with it having produced positive benefits against negative symptoms, so my response to pregnenolone seems like it's probably atypical. However, my response might be a reason to start pregnenolone at a very low dose so you can see how a little bit of it affects you before trying higher doses.
To answer your question as to which supplement you should try first (magnesium taurate or pregnenolone), pregnenolone may very well be more promising against the "negative" symptoms of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. Then again, if you're looking for something more calming, then magnesium taurate might work better. Of course, it's always hard to predict how a supplement might affect a given individual. Generally, pregnonolone might be more activating, with magnesium taurate being more calming, but it's always hard to say in advance exactly how a particular chemical might affect somebody.
As always, I hope that any supplement trials that you might undertake will go well.
