If you take an MAO-B inhibitor, you could potentially reduce your phenylalanine intake significantly.
The problem with takine phenylalanine as a amino acid is that because it is quickly broken down by MAO-B, you need large amounts to have an effect.
reducing MAO-B as much as possible would keep synaptic levels high, but reduce the need for the amino acid to be circulating in other tissues as high levels.
The herb Fo-Ti might be an option.
