I have schizophrenia, and I find that certain supplements do help. B6 and zinc are two which really help me, but I have not heard that you have to take them 10 hours apart. I seem to do okay taking them a couple hours apart at most. I was taking manganese for awhile, and it seemed to help my anxiety, but I stopped taking it after a few months. Maybe I just needed it for a little while. I still take zinc (picolinate form), which seems to really help with depression. B6 helps with my depression and anxiety issues. It is said that a certain percentage of schizophrenics do suffer from pyroluria, and I feel I may be in this category for sure. However, there are other vitamins that are just as important, such as vitamins E and C, selenium, B1, B12, and fatty acids. It seems I am not strictly deficient in just zinc and B6. So someone may be pyroluric, but there may also be issues with methylation status and antioxidant status as well, and also a deficiency in certain fatty acids, namely omega-3s and omega-6s.
