I've bought a lot of stuff from Puritan's Pride. I bought some L-tryptophan from iherb at one time and I thought it was making me nauseous so I returned the unopened bottles.
Don't know about shipping costs to Canada.
Supplements are tricky because they are not regulated. There is an outfit called Consumer's Lab (not to be confused with Consumer Reports) they review supplements to ensure that the label agrees with the contents and check for contaminants. For example in their review of fish oils they found some where the breakdowns didn't match the labels, etc.
Only problem is it is subscription service and they don't review every brand, but usually there will be a dozen or so of a particular supplement and then you have to hunt around and see who has them. I think the cost is around $30/ year for access to the website.
From what I remember the Puritan's Pride reviews were favorable.
