Borage and fish oils for depression

Posted by Lao Tzu on June 18, 2008, at 11:38:47

So far, the omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids have been okay for my depression. They do seem to help with mood, and I feel like I have more energy because of the borage oil. However, it might be too soon to say how well they work on a long-term basis. It seems a balance of both is optimal for depression. When I take them in the morning, I have to be careful about other supplements I take with them. They seem to work better when you're not taking a bunch of other supplements that may complicate your depression. But today, I felt like I would try some pantothenic acid (B5) and a little magnesium with the oils. Don't know about magnesium. Sometimes it's helpful, sometimes it isn't. I'm just experimenting. Also, I might add flax seed oil to the mix to see if that helps even more. Will update my progress as the weeks go by.
