I have done the st. john's mistake. It has a harsh withdrawal, not as harsh as say Effexor, but enough to make a moodswinger more than a little suicidal. Taper it if you can, both on and off. And quite frankly if you have tendencies (i am unclear by what you mean by borderline tendencies) to be manic, it is a terrible idea. Anti depressents make everything worse for someone with bipolar, or cyclothymia, (wich can look alot like borderline.) But I'm not a doctor. I've just done the tango on that one. Sometimes i use it as a mood stabilizer when i can't get a 'script 'cause i run out of insurance, money, etc...but I know that when i do I am in for a bumpy ride. The reason being that the depression is so dangerous for me, and it does seem to relieve that. The thing is, i do get rather manic, and find i need a sedative to sleep that cannot be something that takes a long time to wash out, or i can't get up in the morning.
