Actual mechanisms of taurine

Posted by iforgotmypassword on July 27, 2007, at 14:10:38

I know it *seems* to be an anticonvulsant, or at least in some animals.

What does it do in humans, in terms of the meaningful chemical mechanisms, does it block Calcium channels, other ion channels, NMDA receptors, change receptor expression?

Or does it rebalance flowing levels of minerals, ions, endogenous chemicals or other stuff somehow?

Does it lower norepinephrine, or adrenaline?

What beneficial effects have people noted from taking Taurine at specific dosages on its own?
