magnesium glycinate is ok too, in fact most types are EXCEPT the oxide variant which is poorly absorbed.
Solgar do a 'chelated magnesium' which when quizzed turns out to be magnesium glycinate. Good quality and cheap too.
Rule of thumb is take it to 'bowel tolerance'.
I know someone suggested adding fish oil. If it works then thats fine, but be aware that some people respond badly to fish oil and one of the side effects is terrible insomnia. I know as I am one of those people.
I did kinda find niacinamide combined with the magnesium was pretty good, but mainly because my insomnia seemed to be anxiety based.
Sorry its not conclusive but we are all different and what works for one doesn't always work for another, but I hope my comments help you to find some big Zzzzzzz's soon!
