In reply to Advertised 3 Minute Depression Cure valid?, posted by blueberry on November 12, 2006, at 10:59:29
Strange how the guy pulls his website off google after what I would assume was a profitable day. I've seen this ad go up then gone several times over the few months.
Anyway, 3 minutes? I thought of 2 things, and they both do actually work for emergencies but only very short term. One is to force a smile as real as possible and hold it there. Just hold that smile as long as you can. For a while afterwards, I actually feel better. I think the smile causes a release of endorphins. Another thing...eat a hot pepper raw. The burning sets off a flood of endorphins that acts a good antidepressant and distractor for a while.
Other than that, I think I might keep thinking on how to cause a flood of endorphins. Maybe there is some safe but painful excercise, area to pinch, or body position, or something weird like that.
In any case, I do not believe there is such a cure for depression. And in the ad when he claims "3 minute cure" he doesn't specify whether it takes 3 minutes to be cured for a good while or whether the cure just lasts 3 minutes. Heck, if the cure lasts 3 minutes, I already discovered some. They are listed above in the second paragraph.
