About 80% of psychiatric patients have low zinc. You may notice a sign of it if you see white marks on your nails. Tests worth doing are plasma zinc and serum copper. Those with Pyroluria have a particularly low level of zinc. Try to normalise you zinc level and you may feel better. Some people may require 50-100 mg zinc daily and a few even more than 100mg. 15mg zinc is enough for the general public. High copper in women is often a cause of depression and post-natal depression.Increasing zinc level can bring down copper level.
