> Anyway on the shelf was 100 percent pure USP GRADE L - TRYPOOPHAN,not 5 htp,not a mixture, just simply the single amino acid alone.
That is big news willyee, at least to me. Thanks for sharing it. I have tried several times to get a script for L-Tryptophan with zero success. Docs just didn't know and didn't care to go any further.
IMHO 5-HTP was garbage because to my understanding it merely elevated blood serotonin. It needed to be combined with a decarboxylase inhibitor to allow it to sufficiently penetrate the brain in amounts that would allow for CNS conversion to Serotonin. L-Tryptophan, on the other hand, is the real deal.
Thanks for sharing the info.> For those who dont know this amino is the serotionion amino, responsable for it in the brain,it was banned long ago due to a bad batch, and remained so.
I'd be interested in a delailed reaccount of what exactly went down (some kind of encephalopathy related to a tainted batch???).
While this particular bad batch did seem to be the culprit, I vaguely recall that similar problems (encephalopathy or such) could not be ruled out with untainted L-Trp. Though this sounds like lawyer-speak, and I am personally very interested in L-Trp, I want to be cautious and well informed as possible on this, so any input, info or insight would be greatly appreciated.
>>Conspirsits believe it had something to do with prozac being introduced the very next week.
I have no facts to support any conspiracy, but I also have little faith in the pharm industry. Very convenient timing for the introduction of the SSRI's indeed.
>> Anyway suppsedly people used this for sleep, anxiety depression before it was banned, and most people now order it from overseas or as a animal supplment which is also usp grade and totaly safe."Totally safe" as in approved by the FDA (I'm being serious) or USP grade? BTW, what does USP grade mean?
> Well now appearently its back, the guy told me its been re introduced into the U.S
I am rather surprised. I wonder how this came about.
> Nevertheless just thought id give a heads up.This amino has been used often in combo with ssris./////particulary prozac in low doses to assist in serotionion production.Perhaps I'm speaking out of ignorance, but might combining L-Tryptophan with a serotonergic enhancing drug allow for the potential of serotonin syndrome?
>>Anyway there ya go.I'm curious how long it's been back. Good heads up willyee. Thanks again.
