SJW cause glutamate damage?

Posted by blueberry on February 19, 2006, at 13:09:34

I am just curious. St Johns Wort has equal reuptake inhibition for serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, gaba, and glutamate. Concerning the glutamate reuptake inhibition, I am tempted to think that would somehow cause glutamate toxicity over time? I mean, according to everything I read, excess glutamate is not a good thing. Any thoughts on that?

Another question. I have tinnitus and SJW makes it a LOT louder. Anyone know why that would be? Again, I am tempted to think it has something to do with glutamate, since much of the inner ear processing is done by glutamate receptors.

I'm not taking SJW but I am curious.
