> I don't know the answer to your question, but i have a question of my own. I find taurine in high doses to be a bit depressogenic (is that a word?) and tyrosine in high doses to give me irritability. Do you find the combination to give you any negative feelings?Yes, I do find that too high of a dose of taurine is depressogenic. I think the reason is because it slows down the firing of norepinephrinie and dopamine. It is beneficial in terms of helping to get calcium, potassium, magnesium, and sodium in and out of cells properly, which is so important for mood disorders. And I've read that many people's bodies just can't make enough of the stuff. But finding the "right" dose is, in my opinion, a tricky task. And then the time interval between doses is tricky too.
High dose tyrosine has problems too, mainly the irritation you mentioned, and lousy sleep. I've read that some people take 500mg 3 times a day, or even 1000mg 3 times day, but I can't really take more than 250mg 3 times a day without running into side effects. The main problem I have with tyrosine is that its effects seem to be short-lived, like about 3 to 4 hours, and then there is a depressive crash after it wears off. Getting the right dose and the right time interval between doses is so tricky.
Even though these two supplements help me, I am frustrated. Still working on it though.
