I doubt that adding extra serotonin (via 5-htp) would help apathy. Adding much 5-htp to SSRI's/SSNRI's can cause serotonin syndrome.

A better idea would be to add some Phenylalanine starting at 1g a day and titrating up until you respond. Take this with P5P. This boosts dopamine and norepinephrine increasing motivation and alertness.

Make sure you notify and ask your doctor about this, though..
