It's in your blood cells, some artery cells, but mostly in your gut. It regulates peristalsis, the rhythmic movement of food from stomach to anus. The metabolites are not tagged to say "brain serotonin metabolite" or "gut serotonin metabolite". They are net systemic excretions.
Histamine is high.....it's pollen season. And so on.
It's not possible to learn much from urine. Mainline doctors don't do urinalysis for these metabolites because it is not specific enough. They're right, this time, IMHO.
