Sorry to knock this off topic for a second, but in response to Kara's Phenibut interest I'd like to respond a second (thanks for directing me over here).

I took Phenibut for about a month (to treat anxiety) over a range of doses. The dose I settled on ended up 1.3 grams in the morning and 650 mg in the afternoon. This seemed to work well (although sometimes I'd take a little more).

Lower doses tended to make me tired during the day, but as I pushed my dose up the tiredness decreased.

At that higher dose my social phobia was definitely decreased. I was more talkative and maybe somewhat friendlier (not in a touchy-feely MDMA way) and more motivated (I would cook my wife dinner, clean up a little more then normal, etc).

For the first week maybe it left me feeling pretty fuzzy-headed, I'd forget words or reverse their order in sentences. I also had headaches, but an Advil fixed that. One of the more startling effects was the speed at which I'd fall to sleep, maybe the first three days I would actually jump with a start when I began to fall asleep because it happened so fast. That was pretty uncomfortable, but also seemed to subside (maybe I just got used to it).

The reasons I decided to stop (I'm using it again now, but thats another story, I'd rather not be) was that some of side-effects made me pretty uncomfortable: shallow breathing, sleep apnea, dry mouth, frequent red-eye (treatable with eye-drops) and transient headaches.

If it were not for those side-effects I'd say that its a generally good (albeit weak) substitute for the benzodiazepines with some light mood lifting effects.

I haven't read a lot of feedback like my own, so I'm guessing some people are having good results (or just haven't got around to talking about it yet).

The respiratory depression and apnea I have seen reported elsewhere, but not frequently enough to know if this is a common side-effect or not.

I did but it in bulk so it was pretty inexpensive.

Anyhow, thats my feedback. I'll be using traditional benzodiazepine's to treat my anxiety because of the decreased side effects. YMMV.

FTR Phenibut is a pharmceutical even though its being marketed as a suppliment. I believe it was used as a Russian anti-depressant in the past (I'm not sure though).
