Generally it is believe that of all the receptors than an SSRI hits. THe 5-ht1a receptor is what brings about the most theraputic effect.

Some herbs have constituents in them that act to activate these receptors. Ginkgo appears to be one of them.

5-ht1a activation can have anti-anxiety, and antidpersssant properties.
