Evening primrose oil has a lot of fans, in the PMS club. One of its modes of action most certainly involves its GLA content. Gamma-linolenic is an omega-6 fatty acid, but if there is sufficient omega-3 in the diet (flax oil, fish oil, krill oil), the GLA is shunted down an anti-inflammatory/gene-regulatory pathway that does not increase bloating et al (as generally occurs from omega-6 intake, as linoleic acid). In other words, GLA ought to be additive to the effect of omega-3 supps.
Borage oil is a more concentrated source of GLA than is EPO, but it seems that the EPO may have other modes of action, not seen with borage oil.
