> So I have still been going through the hell which is AD and AP withdrawal and I decided to give SAM-e a shot. I have noticed an antidepressant effect after 2 days at 200mg. My problem has been my brain has been so far out of whack that I don't know if the SAM-e could be exacerbating it or helping it. I know it has already had a benefit in the anxiety/depression arena. So, what are the time results in terms of how long it takes for SAM-e to be fully effective. Also, should I stay at 200 or move up or down? What is the standard dosage? Lastly, what are the side effects?Damn, I seriously fear those synthetic drugs really did a number on me. I really hope this is part if not the whole answer. If not, back to the drawing board.
I don't remember all of the side effects but overstimulated, irritable and stomach upset are some of the potential ones. I'll leave further discussion on that to someone else. In terms of dosage, the upper limit is usually 1200mg. per day total (divided up between 2-4 times during the day). Different people need different amounts though and going higher than you need would not provide more antidepressant value - just more side effects. Sometimes as little as 200 mg. per day is all that is needed (which is great because it is soooo expensive).Larry thinks that TMG with B12 is a more efficient way to go in producing SAM-e in the body at much less expense. You might want to search for his older posts on that.
