There are darned few treatments for viral illness. We now recognize that many viruses are life-long infections. Herpes zoster is chickenpox in kids, but shingles sixty years later.
I think the Borna virus concept gradually faded, as a causative agent for mental illness. That said, amantadine can have some effect, in some people. I really haven't followed antiviral therapies, of late.
