In reply to tyrosine or phenylalanine?, posted by franz on December 11, 2003, at 13:04:01

Tyrosine is more pure stimulant....but I would not use adjectives like better or safer....they're different.
> I read dl phenylalanine converts to PEA but Tyrosine is closer to dopamine.
Tyrosine is one step closer to dopamine than is phenylalanine, and by using both enantiomers (the d- and l-isomers) of phenylalanine, you will get a fairly substantial PEA response....
> Besides some say tyrosine is safer and that phenylalanine can promote cancer growth (I think this is only for those that already have skin problems).Neither induces cancer.....those with melanoma need to do everything they can to avoid stimulating the disease, but if you've got melanoma, you're already in a fight for life.

> ThanksTyrosine is essential (it can't be synthesized from scratch), but is nonessential in that it can be made from phenylalanine. I don't know where the downregulation concept comes from, but I think it's erroneous.
