I try to avoid eating soy due to its effects on the thyroid. I'm fairly certain soy oil is OK, due to no isoflavones or protein, but not completely certain. Besides I know olive oil is a relatively healthy oil (depending on how it was processed I guess), and I like its flavour.

I'm not fanatical, and if soy is only a minor component if something I want to eat, I'll eat a little. However I do notice a difference if I eat a significant amount. ..like soy flour in bread daily....I buy bread without it.
Back when soy beans were all the flavour, I used to make my own soy milk, tofu etc,. reckon I overdid it. It may be part of the cause of going hypo..or throwing something out of whack.

I've dug out for some references , if you are interested..but I think you have probably heard it all before?
they say it much better than I could

I think ALL of the posters on the hypothyroid forum, have found they feel less hypo with the elimination of soy..and all who have tried an elimination diet and retested a month later, have responded with hypo symptoms..at least that I have read. They were all female I think.
I think soy is a goitrogen, but it has other effects on thyroid hormone utilization(unsure what) besides the actual thyroid hormone production.

Lots more...

For some just cutting out soy has been enough to go back to normal thyroid function.
