so my mother has it.
she's over 80.
so... what is to be done?
i'm not sure.
her GP's have been monitoring her blood for a while now, it turns out. not saying anything to her... but regularly getting blood tests.
new zealand is fond of being the control group of everything. that is to say new zealand is fond of collecting documentation on what happens when you do nothing. when there is no intervention. when there is no treatment.
and then you look into the situation a little more... and you come to understand that often there is a... deliverance... of something...
maybe the kids were... given a little finger poking with HIV strains on birth. maybe the kid s were... given a little less oxygen than the gold standard on birth...
just generally... a little less intervention. a little bit cheaper. just to... see what will happen. just that little bit less that little bit under... just to check that the gold standard in the US isn't being too interventionist for it's own good. that appears to be the role of the nz health system...
at whose behest?
that is sort of crucially important, really.
