Even when I first joined Babble in 2004, it was dicey if you were a straight shooter. Members and Bob were pretty quick to ostracize when they didn't like something you posted. Sometime later, Bob seemed to declare an all-out war on "incivility", assigning deputies, adopting arcane formulations for blocks, suggesting "civility buddies", ad nauseum. It's been downhill ever since, and Bob's consistent reaction to complaints was to escalate the war. At a time when people need a place to really speak their minds without fear of retribution, Babble continues to treat adults like 3-year-olds, and ends up serving nobody.
