Dear Lou,
I'm mostly a 'feelings' person - often it's hard for me to sort of 'get my mind around' analytical things, so I'm not sure how useful my reply will be, but I hope it helps.
For me, patience is just patience. I can't put into words what I mean by it.
In this case, it had to do with Scott writing a post; having questions posed; answering them & posing a question; in response to that post, not having the question answered & having more questions posed......that type of thing. If it was me, the sort of 'little kid' part of me might be fidgetting impatiently & feeling frustrated.
:-)So, if I am impatient, I might tend to say something in a not calm manner. I might need to take some deep breaths to slow myself down. If I was feeling like that, it would take restraint to reply calmly.
I hope that answers your questions. I think it's the best I can do. Sometimes lately, when it comes to my cognitive abilities, the quote from the Winnie the Pooh books often comes to my mind.... 'being a bear of very little brain'.
