As long as your inability to contact the complainant does not influence your handling of an uncivil post in a timely manner...
I keep my babble-mail disabled for personal reasons. A post is either civil or it is not in accordance with your policies. I would rather you act on the post rather than on the availability of communication with the posters.
Once a post goes unchallenged for some period of time, its sanction is no longer coherent nor even relevant, expecially if it is to involve a block. Also, after some period of time, if action is not taken, then the complainant may justifiably conclude that the offending posting behavior is civil and therefore allowed without further comment by staff. I have a box full of buttons, you know.
