Well just to mess it all up for you...when I have used it it just cancelled the thread its attached to. The wording is a little ambiguous.
Its a useful function though, I like it very much, specially when a thread is getting too much for me to handle and I trying to stay away from it.
I also have heard that sometimes when the server gets overtaxed that sometimes notices of posts are delayed or don't come at all. Its been a prob off and on in the not so distant past anyways.
