Supportive Environment

Posted by verne on November 4, 2005, at 2:06:56

When I ran out of medication questions I tried to participate on the other boards and discovered them to be less helpful.

I think the other boards stray from the original purpose of being supportive and tend to be more argumentive, entertaining, or both. Some may find arguments amusing so the line between them is blurred.

But debate and entertainment aren't all that supportive and leave me feeling worse off than before. I admit I'm a chronic comedian and guilty myself of trying to amuse others rather than help them. But a steady diet of it just isn't fulfilling.

All the arguing, wit swaps, and pi**ing contests just leaves me feeling empty later - in the real world.

I could also do without the distinct anti-American rhetoric that's curiously tolerated. How is that civil? They will claim, it's not Americans they hate but rather the "system", the government or our "policies". I'm not buying it -they hate "us".

I don't feel welcome in this hostile envirnoment. I'm done until I have another medication issue or my block is over - whichever comes first.
